CONTRACT DETAILS
Contract Duration:
9 Months
SCOPE of WORK:
This was a design/build project.
Faust Corporation designed and constructed approximately 1425 lineal
feet of seawall along the

PROJECT
OVERVIEW:
The
construction of this project was at the Old Coke Plant.
The soils were contaminated and had to remain on site.
Existing seawalls and a water intake structure were removed to allow
for the installation of 90 foot long sheets with a tie-back system 110 feet
back. An H-Pile concrete
relieving platform was installed behind the seawall to allow for the
placement and storage of 14,000 ton stone stockpiles.
100 Ton bollards and high strength plastic fenders were installed.
Over 50,000 cubic yards of material was excavated, handled and
reinstalled.
UNIQUE
SOLUTIONS:
While
construction operations were proceeding, Faust Corporation had to employ
unique scheduling and sequencing to allow for onsite construction of a
cement storage facility and the continual operation of a barge transport
terminal. We designed and
employed a unique H-Pile tieback system to allow for the installation of a
“Ship Unloader” within ten feet of our seawall.

of old concrete wall was problematic.
We needed to clear a minimum of 24 inches for the installation of the
new sheet pile wall. The existing concrete wall ranged in thickness from 24’
to 52”. To solve the problem an
excavator, equipped with a breaker, was used to break away the wall in areas
where the thickness was greater than 24 inches.
